Mon, Jan 31, 2011 - 7.06 mi [Cycling]
7.06 mi in 00:37:24 hours at 11.33 mi/h. [Cycling] Careful cycle home from Central Station - those roads still look very slippy - lots of dirt on the road, potholes galore and it's cold enough for a touch of frost.

Sat, Jan 29, 2011 - 21.42 mi South Tyneside Boundary
Sat, Jan 29, 2011 - 21.42 mi [Cycling]
21.42 mi in 01:27:41 hours at 14.66 mi/h on Pinnacle Hybrid. [Cycling] Cycled down to the coast through Boldon and Cleadon to Whitburn and allong the coast to South Shields - wanting a decent run out I then followed the river Tyne along to Hebburn and back up along Mill Lane and home - It was only when I downloaded the ride that I realised that I had actually cycled the full boundary of the borough of Soth Tyneside without meaning to !

Tue, Jan 25, 2011 - 9.60 mi Tadcaster to York
Tue, Jan 25, 2011 - 9.60 mi [Cycling]
9.60 mi in 00:44:18 hours at 13.00 mi/h on Pinnacle Hybrid. [Cycling] Well a difficult ride back to York - i had frgot my front light and as I already own two 1200 candlelight units I didnt want to buy another so I settled on a nice slim 400 cateye.
Well OK through Tadcaster but when the road ends and the cycle path starts there's just no definition where to go & I always find this bit tricky to hit - well tonight it was the curb I hit and took my first fall of the year and wen your cleated in its gonna hurt !
Fortunately i had full lleggings and gloves on so no permanent damage.
Bike straightened and I was off again but the back end did feel really wobbly - not sure if it was the weight in the panniers or something loose - I must check the bike out before my next ride.
Warm night but damp roads and a low mist made the ride back to York a bit tricky.

9.70 mi in 00:47:36 hours at 12.23 mi/h on Pinnacle Hybrid. [Cycling] Straight forward commute to Tadcaster with my usual weeks stuff in the paniers - nice warm morning but the roads are just so filthy at the moment I found myself cycling through about 2 to 3 inches of wet mud most of the waay along Tadcaster Road.

Mon, Jan 24, 2011 - 22.76 mi Gateshead Circular Tour
Mon, Jan 24, 2011 - 22.76 mi [Cycling]
22.76 mi in 01:39:18 hours at 13.75 mi/h on Bianchi Nironne 7. [Cycling] Picked the bike up from Newcastle and had to cycle back to Heworth Golf Club to pay for next years membership. Well - If was so close to Leam Lane it would be rude not to cycle up it to Wrekenton wouldn't it !
Fast ride off the other side down to team Valley and onto Dunston.
A tricky ride home tonight from Dunston on greasy roads - pushed a bit hard round one corner and back then fron wheels slid 6 inches but I managed to pull it out of the skid and stayed on - Needless to say every band was taken very slowly and very wide afterwards - Just beat the heavy rain home :-)

Sun, Jan 23, 2011 - 12.63 mi [Cycling]
12.63 mi in 01:29:17 hours at 8.49 mi/h on Bianchi Nironne 7. [Cycling] Cycle up town to see the Toon play and very nearly beat Spurs. Parked in Eldon Gardens and went up to Spital Tongues and back after the game - Halfway up Richardson Road a car decided to pull off from the wrong side of the road whilst a car was coming the other way and slew rapidly onto my side of the road where I was cycling - evasive action required and succesful - How many lights and high viz stuff do you need to be seen I wonder :-(

9.75 mi in 00:47:20 hours at 12.36 mi/h on Pinnacle Hybrid. [Cycling] Here we go again back to Tadcaster but this morning it's really cold and there's a harsh frost on the ground - caution required on all turns ! ... and it was a bad morning to forget my gloves and woolly hat - Temp about 1 C and with a 20 mph wind chill it feels very cold - Stronger headwind made the journey tough as well combined with a 7am start :-(
