Mon, Feb 28, 2011 - 11.78 mi Moss Side to Chorlton Water, Withington, Platt fields & City
Mon, Feb 28, 2011 - 11.78 mi [Cycling]
I forgot to start my Garmin so I have only logged the last 4.27 miles of this ride - I have also posted a link to the missing route.
11.78 mi in 00:58:57 hours at 11.99 mi/h on Pinnacle Hybrid. [Cycling] Checking out the cycle paths to the south of the City tonight - all went well till I reached Chorlton Water Park at which point I decided to follow the Trans Pennine cycle route along the Mersey ...
Bad mistake it resembled what i can only call hard core - and poorly compacted at that with full wallbricks randomly dropped - add to that the fact the path is raised about 10 feet above a steep bank down to river and it was getting dark - well ... Inearly went into the river about 3 times.
I quit the path as soon as possible at the junction of the A5103 and followed the roads through Withington & Platt Fields back to the City Centre.

Wed, Feb 23, 2011 - 11.11 mi [Cycling]
11.11 mi in 00:59:24 hours at 11.22 mi/h on Pinnacle Hybrid. [Cycling] Cyle around the south of Manchester after work tonight heading South then East then North then West homing in on Sportscity and the National Velodrome before heading back into the City and my Hotel.
The banking at the Velodrome looks absolutely crazy - I'm sure it's 70 Degrees on the bends ! Anyway i was tracking the track out before booking a taster session in the next few weeks hopefully - the track looked great and so smooth & effortless but I was dissappointed that I couldn't take any pictures as it was juniors night and there's rules about photographing when there's kids about - so the blog will have to wait till my next visit for some shots.

9.67 mi in 00:44:35 hours at 13.01 mi/h on Pinnacle Hybrid. [Cycling] Bit of a murky morning but the rain had gone overnight which is always good news. My legs were a bit tired the first 2 or 3 miles - not feeling very energetic today ... then Bang - suddenly after 6 miles I went for it and cycled hard into Tadcaster - I just got the energy and the urge from somewhere

Wed, Feb 9, 2011 - 7.48 mi [Cycling]
7.48 mi in 00:32:54 hours at 13.64 mi/h on Pinnacle Hybrid. [Cycling] Well it was an interesting ride to Tadcaster today - the day started with an almighty traffic jam in York due to the whole City Centre being shut off because of what I later found out was a bomb scare.
Anyway all that traffic wouldn't bother me on my bike p ha ha ha :-)
An then ..... PUNCTURE .. first of the year and nothing to fix it with - a mile walk to a garage and I found the air pump was out of order ... another mile to the next garage and the air pump wouldnt fit my tyre ... into tescos and a tube and inflator bought - 30 minutes later I was on my way on a nice ride to Tadcaster - little wind and quite warm for February.

Tue, Feb 8, 2011 - 9.81 mi [Cycling]
9.81 mi in 00:43:24 hours at 13.56 mi/h on Pinnacle Hybrid. [Cycling] A nice day and a nice night for a cycle back to York for once on dry roads - even the lights went with me tonight and only 3 out of the 14 I pass were on red.
No paniers on today so the ride was easier especially cornering.
The river Ouse is very high in York tonight - I had thought of cycling along Terry.s Road by the River but its currently about 3 foot below the river level.

Sat, Feb 5, 2011 - 7.34 mi [Cycling]
7.34 mi in 00:30:16 hours at 14.55 mi/h on Bianchi Nironne 7. [Cycling] Cycle home from the game .... and what a game 4 - 0 down at halftime and totally outclassed then Arsenals Right Back has an absolutely stupid reaction to a tackle and pushes 2 Toon players over and is sent off.
After that it's Toon Toon Toon Toon all the way and in the end Arsenal just about hung on for a point.
I stopped at the Quayside on the way back to snap some pictures of the Millenium Bridge and the Sage as they looked so good.
The ride home was well.... no effort at all :-)

10.90 mi in 00:48:55 hours at 13.37 mi/h on Bianchi Nironne 7. [Cycling] Cycle through the tunnel and through Wallsend, Walker, Byker and Gosforth on my way to the match today.
Tough game - how would the Toon fare without Andy Carroll and against a very good Arsenal side.

Thu, Feb 3, 2011 - 9.76 mi [Cycling]
9.76 mi in 00:51:32 hours at 11.36 mi/h on Pinnacle Hybrid. [Cycling] Another tough - very tough ride to Tadcaster into a strong and gusting very strong headwind which had me down to 8mph at times. The wind got so strong I decided not to risk cycling back tonight - a fully laden bike with panniers isn't the most stable thing on a windy day.
